MARSA- This Palazzo is a property in the centre of Malta and only ten minutes walk to Valletta.
Being a very short distance away from Valletta one can have the luxury of having a large Palazzo with a spacious garden and garage for a fraction of the price that such a property would cost if this existed in Valletta.
The water front is just two streets down from where the villa is situated and plans are already in hand to extend the water front into berthing facilities for large yachts.
This Palazzo is situated in the centre of Marsa opposite the Holy Trinity Church, it is elevated and therefore looks down onto the church parvis. Being elevated the villa enjoys the views and tranquility.
Mepa scheduled Villa Violette as a Grade 2 national monument as per Government Notice no. 628/08 in the Government Gazette dated July 21, 2008.
The Villa has a balanced façade consisting of a central doorway with a twin columned portico that supports apx; closed wooden balcony at first floor supported on a columnaded portico.
There are four plain rectangular windows on the façade, located one on each side of main door on ground floor and on each side of the wooden balcony at first floor. A cornice runs along the front below the parapet wall. A gated entrance leads to the main door and on entering one finds a vaulted entrance, hall, large reception area and four large rooms all with private facilities on the ground floor.
A small door leads to a ground floor wing at the right. This leads to a five arched veranda overlooking the large garden (measuring approximately 55ft x 100ft) while its roof serves as a terrace for the first floor. To the left is a similar door with a triangular pediment above which leads to a small room flanking Triq San Bernard. On the first floor one finds a sala nobile and four other rooms all with private facilities and a large terrace overlooking the garden.
On this side there is an iron gate support by two chamfered stone pillars, each of which is topped by a large stone chalice-like flowerpot.
The villa is located at the top of a ramp and has an underground complex at ground level which together with the sculptured façade at street level, form part of the villa complex and are protected as well.
